Sead Haksabanovic is set to join Swedish champions Malmo as the outcast kickstarts Celtic's summer clear-out.

The Montenegro international spent last season on loan with Stoke City but struggled to nail down a regular starting spot, scoring just once. Deemed surplus to requirements by Brendan Rodgers, the winger's representatives have been working to find the 25-year-old a new club.

And Swedish outlet FotbollDirekt reports that Haksabanovic has agreed a deal to join Malmo, who will attempt to navigate their way through this season's Champions League qualifiers. It's said that an official announcement will be made shortly which will bring an end to Haksabanovic's two-year stint at Celtic. A £1.7million signing from Rubin Kazan, the ex-West Ham ace put pen to paper on a bumper five-year deal.

He featured frequently under Ange Postecoglou as Celts stormed to a Treble but found himself out of favour when Rodgers took charge last year. Celts were keen to recoup the outlay they paid in 2022 as Rodgers trims his bloated squad.

Haksabanovic won't be the only fringe player to leave Parkhead in the coming weeks, with Ben Siegrist, Gustaf Lagerbielke, James McCarthy and Oh Hyeon-gyu among those set to move on.
