Sergio Reguilon could go back to Spain this summer and link up with one of his former clubs after being left out of Tottenham’s pre-season squad, according to a report.

Antonio Conte named his 28-man squad for the trip to South Korea on Saturday. And some notable names were left out.

Reguilon, Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele didn’t make the list. Conte has reportedly told them to find new clubs as they are not part of his plans for next season.

Winks is thought to be on Everton and Leeds’ radars. Lo Celso, meanwhile, has been linked with a return to Villarreal. However, there are seemingly complications with that deal.

Reguilon is also a target for several teams, as per the Daily Mail. They reveal La Liga outfit Sevilla hold hope of re-signing the left-back this summer.

Reguilon spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Sevilla from Real Madrid, prior to his £27million move to Tottenham.

He made 38 appearances for Sevilla, helping them win the Europa League and finish fourth in the Spanish top flight.

Spurs have brought in Ivan Perisic on a free transfer from Inter Milan. And with the Croatia international now operating as a left wing-back, he is likely to replace Reguilon in Conte’s starting eleven.

Due to this, and the Spaniard’s pre-season omission, Sevilla are targeting him.

Julen Lopetegui’s side are discussing a loan exit for current left-back Ludwig Augustinsson, who could join Aston Villa.

And they view Reguilon as a perfect replacement, given the fact he already knows the club and is a six-time Spain international.

The report doesn’t reveal how much Spurs will ask for Reguilon, or whether he could leave on loan.

They would likely want to recoup all of the £27m they paid for him two years ago.

Real Madrid still have a buy-back clause for Reguilon. It stands at £33.8m and expires at the end of the current transfer window.

However, they are unlikely to activate it as Carlo Ancelotti can already rely on Ferland Mendy on the left side of defence.

Reguilon going back to Sevilla would make sense. Conte is clearly preparing to use Perisic in his position, so he faces a season on the bench if he doesn’t secure a move.

Sevilla are in a good spell too, having finished fourth in La Liga last season. This means Reguilon will still get to play in the Champions League if he leaves north London.

Meanwhile, Steven Bergwijn has explained why Ajax is a ‘step up’ for him after joining the Dutch club from Spurs recently.
