Stroppa resigned on Sunday following a 1-0 defeat to Siena that left the club 18th in the table.
Bergodi, who managed Modena until May, has landed his first Serie A job. He represented Pescara as a player between 1984 and 1989.
“I will try to give my best,” he told a press conference. “I am a person who never gives up and I'm very determined.
“I know this team well, and I believe we have all the means to avoid relegation. I am very excited, and I want to thank the President for giving me the opportunity to return to the city that loved me.
“I was at Pescara for nine years overall, and it is a great source of pride to be back here as a coach.”
