The Premier League club had been in negotiations with Juventus for Quagliarella in a €10m transfer, but it’s reported the Italy international rejected the proposal.

According to reports in both Italy and England, Norwich City turned their attention towards Maxi Lopez instead.

The Argentine is owned by Catania, but spent recent seasons on loan at Milan and Sampdoria.

It’s rumoured Norwich have offered €4m to buy Maxi Lopez outright, which is approximately £3.5m.

There is also a three-term contract on the table for the 29-year-old.

It’s rumoured AC Milan have sent a delegation to CSKA Moscow for negotiations over Keisuke Honda.

The Japanese international is out of contract at the end of December and has already pledged to join the Rossoneri in January as a free agent.

However, Milan are eager to snap him up as soon as possible and are eager to convince CSKA Moscow.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a delegation arrived in Moscow last night including FIFA agents Ernesto Bronzetti and Federico De Vecchi, plus Honda’s brother.

But CSKA Moscow director general Roman Babaev insists “we respect Keisuke Honda’s desire to join Milan, but we haven’t received any offers.”

David Pizarro has apologised to Fiorentina fans for handing in a transfer request and revealed what was behind it.

The Viola squad had its pre-season presentation on Friday night in Moena and the Chilean midfielder took the microphone.

“What went wrong at the end of the season? Nothing, it’s just that like all the fans I was upset by what happened,” said Pizarro.

“I was very disappointed. Will I stay here? Yes, we’ll challenge for trophies, unless something else happens.”

The former Roma, Inter and Manchester City midfielder’s comments were clearly directed at the controversial refereeing decisions that marred the final few weeks of the campaign.

Fiorentina finished fourth after challenging Milan for third until the last couple of rounds.

Pizarro’s agent had declared straight after the final match of the season that he wanted a transfer abroad, but it seems he has now calmed down.

Fiorentina’s ambition knows no bounds, as Adem Ljajic agrees a new deal, plus bids for Josip Ilicic, Marco Verratti, Radja Nainggolan and Daniele De Rossi.

The Viola finished fourth in Serie A last season and are determined to strengthen for Champions League qualification or more.

According to several different reports, Ljajic has agreed to sign a contract extension to June 2017 with an option for a further season.

It is a strong message, as his current deal is set to expire in June 2014, so a transfer to Milan had been on the cards.

Having sold Stevan Jovetic to Manchester City for €30m on Friday, Fiorentina are eager to re-invest in some big names.

Talks with Palermo for Ilicic have been at an advanced stage for weeks, so he is expected to join for €9m on Monday or Tuesday.

According to La Repubblica, the Tuscans are preparing audacious bids for several top midfield stars.

Italy international Verratti has been a sensation at PSG and Fiorentina hope they can tempt him back for his debut Serie A campaign, although the French club is unwilling to sell.

The Viola could also join the bidding war for Cagliari midfielder Nainggolan, which includes Inter, Napoli, Roma and Southampton.

More surprisingly, Fiorentina are linked with an offer for Roma star De Rossi, who has already worked with Coach Vincenzo Montella both as his player and teammate.

De Rossi is increasingly unsettled at Roma amid protests from fans and a lack of support within the club, but so far nobody has made the right proposal.

He would reunite with several ex-Roma teammates, including Alberto Aquilani and David Pizarro.
