The Brazilian has been suffering from flu symptoms and did not train with his teammates on Wednesday or Thursday.

As the Serie A game is on Saturday night and the Rossoneri must also prepare for the Champions League encounter with Atletico Madrid, it is likely Kaka will be rested until he has fully recovered.

This would suggest Keisuke Honda, Robinho and newcomer Adel Taarabt are to be the trio supporting Mario Balotelli.

Michael Essien could possibly also receive his Milan debut in midfield.

Meanwhile, Milan midfielder Bryan Cristante will be out of action for a month after fracturing his fibula.

The Canadian-Italian sustained the injury during a training session on Wednesday.

This evening the club announced he has an incomplete fracture of the base of the fibula and will be out of action for a month if there are no complications.

It means he will miss both legs of the Champions League Round of 16 tie against Atletico Madrid.

Still only 18, Cristante has made four senior appearances for Milan this season, scoring one goal.
