On from indications on Tuesday from Britain that the Red Devils are preparing an assault for the Juventus man, comes the Gazzetta dello Sport’s assertion that Vidal’s agent Fernando Felicevich was in Manchester on the same day.
The pink daily writes that whilst no formal offer has come in to the Bianconeri, yet, movement on this front could happen in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Tuttosport lead with this suggestion, reporting that Juventus have ‘closed the door’ on any interest coming in from Louis van Gaal’s side, with the belief that the player is happy to remain in Turin on his current contract.
The Corriere dello Sport reiterate this position and report that Juve are now firmly against selling Vidal due to the difficulty they would face in finding a replacement.
Transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio is another to make clear that the Old Lady is unwilling to consider offers for the 27-year-old.
If it was just Tuttosport (not the most reliable of sources) saying that United's hopes for Vidal were fading fast, then we might dismisses it, but there are too many outlets in Italy now reporting this news for there not to be an element of truth to it.
The only sliver of hope for United fans is that Juventus have seen how much money Real Madrid managed to squeeze out of the Angel Di Maria transfer and believe they can do something similar by leaking out information that they are not going to sell.
Either way, this rumour is set to rumble on until the end of the transfer window. United though would be wise to start looking at alternatives.
