Corriere dello Sport have reported today that the Rossoneri have agreed personal terms with the Asian playmaker – offering the 27-year-old a four-year deal worth €2.5m (£2.1m) per season.
However, in order to get that sort of cash, the Rome-based newspaper believes that the Brazil international will have to depart from San Siro.
It is claimed though, that vice-president Adriano Galliani is confident a deal with Santos can be reached, with a fee of around €8m (£6.8m) likely to be agreed.
The only sticking point now is the fee Milan will have to pay CSKA for Honda. Massimiliano Allegri's men have already had a €2m (£1.7m) offer turned down, but with his contract set to run out on December 31 2013, the Diavolo are hesitant to go to the Russian club's €7m (£6.1m) asking-price.
