Milan president Silvio Berlusconi confirmed his intentions to bring in a new face to cover for the untimely loss of the Dutch midfielder, who snapped his Achilles tendon in his side's 4-2 victory at Torino on Sunday and could miss the rest of the season.
De Jong is more known for his defensive qualities in the centre of the park, but has netted one goal in 12 appearances since arriving from Manchester City in a 5 million euro deal in the summer.
“We’re disappointed, it is a real shame for De Jong,” said Berlusconi.
“We’re evaluating the opportunity of going back on to the market if that is what is necessary.”
