However Costa Rica international Campbell is another target and it is suggested he is an increasingly feasible option.
It is understood that Milan have made contact with Arsenal over a proposed move and that the comparatively low cost to any deal has them seriously considering an offer.
Reports also suggest The Gunners are another side tracking Shakhtar Donetsk’s Douglas Costa and with greater finances they could make a move in the coming week.
Should this occur, it is believed that they would be more willing to release Campbell to Milan, most likely on an initial loan basis.
Milan haven't shopped at the top of the market for some time now - just think of their capture of Adel Taarabt - and a loan move to the Rossoneri would make sense for Campbell, who looked bright at the World Cup. There appears to be little room for him at Emirates Stadium so this deal makes sense for all parties.
