Pato, 23, endured a poor 2011-season, scoring just four goals in an injury-ridden campaign.

This season he has struggled to win a first-team place due to the form of Stephan El-Shaarawy, and after scoring from the bench in the 3-1 Champions League win over Anderlecht, the Brazil international said “I want to play – we’ll see what will happen with my agent”.

The player’s representative Gilmar Veloz said that he would speak to the club following the outburst.

“If he said these things then he must have reasons,” Veloz told the TuttoMercato website. “I’ll arrive in Italy on Tuesday, I’ll speak to Pato and then to the club to see what to do next.

“I don’t want to say anything more without knowing more about the situation. I don’t know if he’ll leave Milan – ask me after Tuesday.”

Pato arrived at Milan midway through the 2007-08 season in a 24 million euros deal from Internacional.

He hit double figures in Serie A in each of his first three full seasons, but injuries have seen his club career stall.

Pato has still managed to perform for Brazil though, scoring three goals in four matches this year, with reports suggesting he is unhappy with his level of medical treatment at the San Siro.
