The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest rankings for Women’s T20I’s with Indian swashbuckling opener Shafali Verma retaining her top spot. She is followed closely by Australia’s Beth Mooney and Shafali’s opening partner, Smriti Mandhana.

The explosive combination of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandana at the top has changed India’s fortune in recent times. Especially in the shorter format where the deadly duo can express themselves, India has made huge progress in the T20I’s.

Although they lost their previous T20I series against England in England, the women gave a tough fight and it needed a stellar effort from Danielle Wyatt in the final match to win the series for the hosts. The upcoming tour of Australia will be an acid test for the Indian contingent.

Shafali sits comfortably at the top with 759 points, followed by Mooney with 744 and Mandhana with 716 points. Another Aussie Meg Lanning is in the fourth position with 709, while Kiwi skipper Sophie Devine recently produced a match-winning performance against England to gain one spot in the batters list.

On the bowling front, Deepti Sharma took Katherine Brunt’s spot in 6th place after the latter missed the second T20I against New Zealand. England’s Sophie Ecclestone holds the top spot with 778 points following by Megan Schutt and Sarah Glenn.

As for the all-rounder’s list, Devine and Natalie Sciver share the top spot with 371 points. Scotland’s Kathryn Bryce is in third place and she’s the only woman from her country to feature in the top-10 player rankings list at the moment.

Devine, who was ranked No.1 for over a year, lost the spot to Sciver when the latter proved to be a huge difference-maker in the T20I series against India held in June. She has now equaled her rival after scoring 50 and taking two wickets in the recently concluded second T20I between England and New Zealand.
