Cricket: Shahzad handed provisional doping ban

Mohammad Shahzad failed an out-of-competition test and has been handed a provisional ban as a result.

Afghanistan's Mohammad Shahzad has been provisionally suspended after being charged with an anti-doping rule violation.

An out-of-competition sample provided by the wicketkeeper-batsman was found to contain banned substance Clenbuterol, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Thursday.

His provisional ban will come into effect on April 26 if Shahzad does not exercise his right to challenge the ban.

Shahzad has made 58 one-day and 58 Twenty20 appearances for Afghanistan. He has four ODI centuries and one T20I ton to his name.
