Former New Zealand cricketer Shane Bond has been selected as the fourth coach of New Zealand national cricket team. The 46-year-old will be added as the fourth coach of the team during the forthcoming ICC T20I World Cup 2021 and New Zealand T20I series against India post that. The ICC T20I World Cup 2021 is set to take place from October 17 to November 14 in UAE. Post that, the New Zealand team will tour India for three-T20I games.

Former Kiwi pacer Shane Bond has also worked as the coach for the New Zealand cricket earlier. He was the bowling coach of the team for three years from 2012 to 2015. Bond has also guided the New Zealand A team in the past.

Shane Bond Will Be An Extra Set Of Hands Especially Around The Bowlers: New Zealand Head Coach Gary Stead

New Zealand’s head coach Gary Stead mentioned in an official statement that since Shane Bond will be assisting Mumbai Indians during IPL 2021 in UAE, his analysis will be beneficial since ICC T20I World Cup 2021 is also scheduled at the same venue.

“Shane’s been in our environment before and understands what we’re about. Being in the UAE (with the IPL) immediately prior to the world cup … he’ll hopefully bring some tactical insight into what’s been happening in the competition,” Gary Stead said in an official release.

“He’ll be an extra set of hands especially around the bowlers, working with the spin and the pace bowlers and developing their plans in a tournament that moves pretty quick – so we need to be one step ahead of other teams,” Stead further said.
