While New York Fashion Week has come to an end, I know I’ll be thinking about the incredible clothes and show-stopping runways for months to come. I also can’t forget the beautiful and inventive makeup looks created to complement this season’s clothes.
Unsurprisingly, to achieve these looks, makeup artists reached for a few tried-and-true beauty products that this shopping editor uses regularly and always recommends. Keep scrolling to get the details on five editor-approved and NYFW-tested products worth adding to your beauty routine.
1. MERIT Flush Balm, $28
The models at Altuzarra wore very natural makeup looks this season that subtly enhanced their features. While the makeup artists used an assortment of products from MERIT, the brand’s Flush Balm is my personal hero product from the entire line. Easily buildable and available in five flattering shades, this creamy cheek tint looks beautiful on all skin tones and is practically foolproof.
2. Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, $42
Smashbox’s No. 1 product is its cult-favorite Photo Finish Foundation Primer. This best seller was used on the models at Christian Cowan this year to blur imperfections, nourish the skin and, of course, lock in the bold makeup look. This was one of the first primers I ever used, and it’s still a staple in my makeup bag. It’s a classic for a reason!
3. Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray, $30
If you’ve been looking for a texture spray to give your hair volume without leaving it feeling sticky or crunchy, you’ve got to try Moroccanoil’s Dry Texture Spray. This spray was used on the models at Alice + Olivia’s presentation this season to give their various hairstyles texture and dimension. A few spritzes of this stuff will give your hair that elusive extra oomph that only pros seem to be able to create.
4. Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Highlighter Wand in Spotlight, $40
To give the models a little golden glow at Christian Siriano’s show, makeup artists’ reached for Charlotte Tilbury’s Beauty Highlighter Wand in the shade Spotlight, which is a liquid rose gold highlighter. The brand’s Beauty Highlighter Wands went viral on TikTok this year, and they remain just as popular today because they’re easy to use, stay put and instantly give your face a dewy look.
5. essie Nail Polish in Wicked, $9.99
At Proenza Schouler’s show, nail artist Mo Qin used essie’s Wicked Nail Polish on the models’ toes for an autumnal pedicure that was both sexy and stylish. In fact, this deep burgundy color is one of essie’s best shades of all time. It’s so dark that it almost looks brown or black in certain lights. It’s the color I always gravitate toward during the fall and winter when I need a pedicure.
