Philippe Clement's comments earlier in the week over the financial gulf between Rangers and Europa League opponents Tottenham Hotspur have been backed up by pundit Simon Jordan - who says that the Belgian was right to bring up the 'facts' over the fiscal disparity.

The Light Blues, for all of their failures in the Scottish Premiership this season, have fared well in Europe once again, and currently sit in the top eight of the Europa League's newfound league phase after some superb results on the continent.

They face a tough challenge against former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou on Thursday, however, thought his Tottenham team have struggled themselves with just one win from their previous seven games - though Clement saw fit to point out the financial gulf between the two teams.

However, speaking on talkSPORT, the ever-controversial Jordan backed Clement for his comments - stating that he's right to deliver the facts instead of aiming for an underdog-esque, valiant 'battle cry'. He said: “It’s a statement of fact, certainly with Tottenham. Tottenham’s turnover is £350m quid – Rangers’ is what, £80m?

"So of course it’s comparable to make that kind of observation. What do you want, someone to issue some Braveheart battle cry?”

Clement's side could put themselves in with a real shout of making it to the knockout stages of the tournament with a win - but he wasn't so convinced in midweek, saying: "It's totally different kind of games. Maybe we need to say financially out of our league, the two games but we're going compete in that way. It's a really nice challenge for for our squad to show themselves in these games and what we can do against those teams."
