Simone Biles thanks secret Japanese gym where she trained while battling the 'twisties' during Olympics
Simone Biles worked hard to try and regain her skills at the Tokyo Olympics. Biles confirmed she held secret practices at a Japanese gym while trying to overcome the "twisties."
Biles retweeted a story about her training regimen at the gym, which is located at Juntendo University. Biles thanked everyone at Juntendo for allowing her to "come train separately to try to get my skills back."
I’ll forever be thankful for Junetendo ❤️ for allowing me to come train separately to try to get my skills back. The japanese are some of, if not the sweetest people I’ve ever met. https://t.co/2ZWrItJwAO

Hours after Biles pulled out of the women's team final, her team called Juntendo to set up discreet practices for Biles, according to the Wall Street Journal. Shortly after setting up the practice, Biles went to the gym and worked for two hours. She returned to the gym three other days. People at Juntendo agreed to lock the entrances so no one would know Biles was practicing.
Simone Biles shared video where she battled the 'twisties'
During the Olympics, Biles shared a video showing how the "twisties" can effect a gymnast. The videos were featured as part of her Instagram story, and expired 24 hours after Biles posted them. But some of her followers grabbed screengrabs of the videos, in which Biles explains what she's battling.
Since it’s clear some of y’all won’t make the effort to go watch these videos on @Simone_Biles insta-here. Now imagine these landings w/out a foam pit & instead on the hard mat. Imagine them during team finals. Then maybe STFU with your criticisms of her. #SimoneBiles #Tokyo2020 pic.twitter.com/O9FDV5zqAZ

The videos show Biles failing to land two maneuvers while in the air. Biles added text to the video, explaining it would have been dangerous to try and land those moves on a competition floor. She also explained she didn't start experiencing the issue until after the prelims competition.
While Biles pulled out of multiple events, she still took home two medals — a silver and a bronze — at the Tokyo Olympics. Biles won the bronze in the balance beam, which she participated in after dealing with the "twisties" and training at Juntendo.
