Tottenham could be on their own in the potential pursuit of Anthony Gordon in the summer, though a deal will hinge on one condition.

Tottenham were reportedly keen on Everton winger Gordon in the summer. Their apparent interest was largely overshadowed by Chelsea’s.

Indeed, the Blues seemed to be very keen on snaring the youngster. They bid for him twice, though were turned down by the Toffees both times.

Since they were unable to snare the forward in the summer, it seems Chelsea’s interest has waned.

Links between the Blues and Gordon have become a lot fewer throughout the season. However, Tottenham remain in the news, being linked with the Everton man.

Reports at the back end of November suggested Spurs’ interest is “not going to go away”.

As such, it would not be a surprise if they were to attempt to sign Gordon at some point.

The interest coincides with a drop-off in form for the winger. Indeed, he has scored one goal in his last nine appearances, and has started on the bench in Everton’s last two league games.

Anthony Gordon move could come to fruition

With that being said, a move could be on the cards.

Everton might see interest in the youngster as an opportunity to make some money. Indeed, despite his drop off, there seems to still be interest in him.

They could make a decent sum despite him not being at the top of his game. Were his slump to continue, that opportunity might not be there for too much longer.

That a move could come to fruition despite poor form is reiterated by one journalist, who feels a Spurs transfer could reinvigorate the forward.

“The only thing that’s changed is that Chelsea may have moved on and Gordon’s form has gone off the edge of a cliff,” he told GIVEMESPORT.

“I don’t think that’s something that can’t be corrected and I think there is still interest from Spurs.”

Condition could make or break move

Recent reports have stated Gordon might be available for as little as £30million. That is half of what Everton valued the winger at when Chelsea were in pursuit.

According to the journalist, Everton are unlikely to sell for that little. However, Tottenham might be hoping they can pay under his value.

“They [Tottenham] wouldn’t pay what Chelsea were willing to pay, so it’s really whether Everton were to accept much less,” he said.

“I can’t see Everton selling Anthony Gordon for £30m, it would take the player to try and force that through.”

As such, Tottenham might have to hope Gordon is keen on making the move in order to force Everton into selling on the cheap.

“So, I think it’s very unlikely he leaves in January but in the summer, you might see this come back up,” he added.
