Two pairs of Northern Iowa football players — current and former — have been arrested from a single incident earlier this week.
According to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, current UNI football playersXavior Lee Williams, 18, and Andre John Allen Jr., 21,were arrested onThursday after getting involved in a Sunday incident at a bar in Cedar Hills, Iowa. The incident involved them unintentionally interfering with the arrest of two former UNI players —Deiondre Clifton Hall, 22, of the NFL's Chicago Bears, and Makinton Dorleant, 24, of the Green Bay Packers.
Court records obtained by the Courierallege that Williams, at roughly1 a.m. Sunday, threw two cups of beer into the street nearpolice — who were in the middle of handling a hostile crowd during Hall and Dorleant's arrest. Williams has been charged with misdemeanorassault on an officer, though he was later released from jail. He is currently awaitingtrial after getting charged with "operating while intoxicated" in January andhas been suspended from football activities.
Allen has been charged with misdemeanor interference during Williams' arrestafter he allegedly refusednumerous police orders to move to the sidewalk during the 30-minuteincident.
Hall — who was charged withinterference, public intoxication and disorderly conduct— was arrested afterpolice responded to a woman who had fallen outside the bar. When they arrived, they allegedly found Hall in a crowd waving his arms and screaming profanities. According to court records,Hall failed to follow instructions when police attempted to pull him from the crowd. He laterattemptedto escapeand spit at officers. Records state that police were forced to use a Taser on him to get him in the back of a squad car.
Dorleant — who was charged with police interference — is accused of trying to grab Hallduring the latter's arrest. According to records,he then yelled and walked aggressively at officers. Dorleant later posted bail for Hall.
