Gary Rowett saw his side romp to a 6-2 win

Gary Rowett saluted a first-half masterclass as Burton roared to one of their biggest wins as a League club.

The Pirelli Stadium outfit scored four times in 19 minutes before the break on their way to a 6-2 win over AFC Wimbledon to open their account for the season.

The Burton boss said: "Even though it's only the second game of the season there was a little bit of pressure on us after losing at Rotherham.

"I wanted to know whether we could kick on from that and I thought we did it emphatically.

"It was a terrific performance and there were a lot of players out there who gave man of the match performances."

Inevitably, Dons boss Terry Brown admitted there were defensive issues that need to be urgently addressed.

He said: "It was an absolute nightmare start for us and the first two goals were horrendous.

"They had a big slice of luck with the second when the ball came off the wall but we never got to grips with Burton in the first half at all.

"I could have made six or seven substitutions at half-time let alone three.

"The three we did bring on did okay, but I was disappointed we conceded more goals in the second half because we wanted to go out there and give it our best and attack the opposition."
