Six Nations: Tommy Allan replaces Ange Capuozzo in Italy’s team to face Wales
Italy head coach Kieran Crowley has named his team to face Wales in the Six Nations, which features just one change to the starting XV, with Ange Capuozzo ruled out through injury.
Capuozzo sustained a shoulder injury against Ireland in Round Three of the Six Nations and will miss the remainder of the tournament. He has been replaced by Tommy Allan in the starting XV.
Italy will be out to claim back-to-back wins over Wales in the competition after stunning the then-Wayne Pivac-coached side in 2022.
Allan started the Azzurri’s opening two games of the tournament at fly-half. He move to the bench for the third Test when Paolo Garbisi returned from injury.
The Harlequins playmaker starts at full-back in an otherwise unchanged starting XV.
Allan is joined in the back three by right wing Edoardo Padovani and left wing Pierre Bruno.
Bruno retains his starting role after scoring against Ireland in Round three.
After an impressive performance in the centres against Ireland, Tommaso Menoncello will continue his partnership with Juan Ignacio Brex in the midfield.
Garbisi and Stephen Varney make up the half-back pairing for a second round in a row.
Michele Lamaro captains the side from the number seven jersey, Lorenzo Cannone is at number eight and Sebastian Negri completes the starting loose forwards at blindside flank.
Niccolo Cannone and Federico Ruzza combine in the second-row as they have all tournament. In the front-row Danilo Fischetti is at loosehead, Giacomo Nicotera starts at hooker and Simone Ferrari is tighthead prop.
With Allan moving into the starting XV, Crowley has made a change to his bench. He has opted for a six-two split in favour of the forwards.
Manuel Zuliani comes onto the bench as an additional back-row option, with Luca Bigi, Federico Zani, Marco Riccioni, Edoardo Iachizzi and Giovanni Pettinelli the other forward replacements.
Alessandro Fusco and Luca Morisi are the backline replacements.
