Skeleton - Dukurs shines once again

Recently-crowned World Cup champion Martins Dukurs claimed the lead after two runs at the Bauhaus FIBT Bob & Skeleton World Championships in Lake Placid.

The Latvian opened up an advantage of 0.69 seconds over Germany’s Frank Rommel at the halfway point at the Olympic Sliding Center.

American crowd favourite Matt Antoine was in third with two runs to go, 1minute 18 seconds back with the older Dukurs brother, Tomass, in fourth, a minute and a half behind.

New Zealand's Ben Sandford lies in fifth place, following his career-best second-place finish at the World Cup event in St Moritz this winter.

Runs three and four are scheduled for Saturday.
