Takanashi has responded to losing for the first time this Olympic season in perfect fashion with a double in Sapporo as the World Cup circuit first stopped in her native Japan. And that was the case again as the tour headed south to Zao with Takanashi once again victorious for a seventh win from eight this season while there was even more to celebrate than usual. For Takanashi's Japanese team-mate Yuki Ito claimed second place for her first ever individual World Cup podium while Germany's Carina Vogt completed the top three. Takanashi wasn't perfect as her hands touched the snow on the landing of her first jump but a hill record of 104m tempered the low marks from the judges in Zao. She scored 110.8, which was to be enough for the win as difficult winds forced first several breaks of the second round before a cancellation after just eight athletes had competed. Ito placed second with 109.4 while Vogt scored 108.1 and moved into second in the overall World Cup standings behind Takanashi but now ahead of absent Russian Irina Avvakumova.
