Sky Sports' 'breaking' Coventry City news as head coach talks rumble on
Talks are reported to be “continuing” as Frank Lampard is claimed to be in “advanced” negotiations with Coventry City although “no agreement” is understood to have been reached, according to breaking news from Sky Sports this lunchtime.
The TV sports channel says that the two parties are continuing discussions this week as they seek to come to an agreement over Mark Robins’ replacement after more than seven years in charge of the Sky Blues.
A Sky Sports news bulletin said: “A bit of breaking news and it concerns the vacant position at Coventry City. We are told that Coventry City are in advanced talks with Frank Lampard over their managerial vacancy.

“It’s understood there has been no agreement reached yet, with talks continuing this week. Lampard has been out of work for the last 18 months, having previously managed Derby, Chelsea, Everton and then Chelsea once again on an interim basis. But he’s now in advanced talks over the vacant manager’s job at Coventry City, made vacant after the club sacked Mark Robins after over seven years in charge of the Championship club.”
City owner Doug King revealed last week at a fans’ forum to explain his dismissal of Robins that the club were now looking to appoint a head coach rather than manager, with a sporting director overseeing the football operation as a whole.
