‘Smoking gun’ confirming Klopp is full of sh*t set to be made public as lengthy Liverpool ban awaits
Jurgen Klopp’s history of abusing match officials looks set to count against him when he’s charged by the FA for his antics in Liverpool’s 4-3 win over Tottenham on Sunday, as a ‘smoking gun’ leaves the Reds boss without a leg to stand on.
Klopp wildly celebrated his side’s stoppage time winner in the face of fourth official John Brooks – pulling a hamstring in the process – before later claiming referee Paul Tierney had said somethough untoward as he cautioned the Liverpool boss for his reaction.
Having listened back to the audio, refereeing body the PGMOL have rubbished Klopp’s claims, insisting Tierney ‘acted in a professional manner throughout’.
They are sending the audio to the FA, who will currently be considering the punishment for Klopp, who looks set for a significant ban having already served a one-game suspension this season for berating assistant referee Gary Beswick during Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Manchester City in October, as well as being fined £30,000.
Klopp was also fined £45,000 in February 2019 for saying Kevin Friend gave every 50-50 for West Ham against Liverpool having wrongly let Sadio Mane’s opener stand in a 1-1 draw.
One insider told the Daily Mail that the audio which clears Tierney was a ‘smoking gun’, and the conversation is likely to be made public at the end of any disciplinary case. We cannot f***ing wait for that.
Ref Support UK CEO Martin Cassidy is hoping for more than a ban for Klopp, urging the FA to hand out a points deduction to make the Liverpool boss “shut up and behave”.
“Unless the FA start addressing this behaviour with a points deduction it will never change,” Cassidy told Express. “Giving Liverpool a £30,000 fine is nothing. Start giving them points deductions and watch them shut up and behave.
“We believe that will be one of the silver bullets right across football to address right up from grassroots to the Premier League. There have been touchline bans for decades, but it’s not getting better, it’s getting worse.”
