The Chinese, who won the PTC Grand Finals at the weekend, continued his run of good form with victories over Mark Allen, John Higgins and Marco Fu, firing four breaks of over 120 in his four matches.

Ding, one of seven round-robin league winners to make the winners' group, lost to Ali Carter but still managed to open up a one-point lead over his rivals with a day remaining, although all each player is still in with a shout.

The top four from the winners' group will go through to the lucrative play-offs at the venue in Essex.
