Snooker - Ronnie O'Sullivan beats qualifier Hull to progress

Reigning world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan progressed to the second round of the World Championships courtesy of a 10-4 win against Robin Hull.

O’Sullivan made a break of 124 on his way to a 3-0 advantage but Hull replied in kind with a 102 break to cut the arrears to 3-1.

The reigning champion then needed snookers to claim the fifth frame before a run of 81 saw O’Sullivan take a 5-1 advantage.

Again, Hull responded, this time with a run of 60 to reduce the arrears to 5-2 – however, O’Sullivan took a five-frame advantage to the interval courtesy of breaks of 60 and 90.

O’Sullivan took the first frame of the evening session but runs of 39 and 52 in frame 11 and runs of 68 and 24 in the next frame cut the arrears further.

However, the five-times champion then took the last frame before the mid-session interval to leave himself within just one frame of the next round.

It took three visits but O’Sullivan wrapped up the win courtesy of runs of 12, 41 and 54.
