Barcelona's wild goal 33 seconds into Women's Champions League final leads to 4-0 title rout

It didn't take long for Barcelona to capitalize en route to the club's first-ever Women's Champions League title.

The Spanish champions got on the board in the championship final within 33 seconds on a wild own goal off of Chelsea, which made its first Champions League final appearance in club history.

It was a nightmare start for the English side that continued to get worse. Barcelona pounded Chelsea with four goals in the first half to ride out a 4-0 victory.

Barcelona takes lead 33 seconds into match

Barcelona advanced the ball off the whistle and Lieke Martens put an early shot on goal. It ricocheted up into the air off the crossbar and Barcelona managed to keep it alive in front of the net.

Chelsea's Fran Kirby furiously attempted to clear it, but it knocked off the foot of Melanie Leupolz, charging in to help, and soared into the top left corner out of goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger's outstretched hands.

Chelsea, down 1-0 with 33 seconds off the clock, nearly equalized within the next few minutes. Instead, Barcelona took off and went up 4-0 by the half with goals at the first, 14th, 20th and 36th minutes. Chelsea's defense struggled to cover Barcelona's wide attack and the offense could never break through.

One goal, two goal, three goal, four

Chelsea doubled up on a penalty kick by Alexia Putellas to the bottom left of the net in the 14th minute. Berger dove to her left on the kick.

They took it to three off the left foot of Aitana Bonmati from the center of the box.

And by the time Barcelona made it 4-0 at the 36' mark, with a close-range finisher by Carolina Hansen on a Martens assist, the Champions League on CBS Sports account had enough and went with a simple, telling emoji.

Barcelona trailed Lyon, 4-0, after 30 minutes in their last Champions League final two seasons ago, as noted by The Guardian. This squad wasn't going to let that happen again — clearly — and they have paid it forward.
