Former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rejected a return to Premier League management this season, according to a report.

The Norwegian got the sack from Old Trafford in November following a poor run of form at United. The Red Devils came into the latest campaign full of optimism after a second-placed Premier League finish.

What’s more, Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival and instant impact lifted hopes higher. However, problems began to set in on and off the pitch and Solskjaer eventually paid the price.

He has still shown his face at club events since he left his post. Indeed, Solskjaer watched his daughter Karna make her Man Utd Women debut in January.

However, he has not yet stepped back into the dugout. According to Norwegian outlet VG, though, the 49-year-old has had offers from further Premier League clubs.

The report does not claim to know the identity of those clubs, just that they approached Solskjaer.

In any case, the former Man Utd forward deemed them unsuitable so soon after his exit from Old Trafford.

Nevertheless, VG adds that Solskjaer is open to stepping back into management this summer.

It remains unclear if he will consider a move back to the Premier League, elsewhere in the UK or a move abroad.

Solskjaer initially took charge of United on an interim basis after the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

However, after a brilliant upturn in form after his arrival – including a Champions League win at Paris Saint-Germain – the ex-Norway international got the job permanently.

He helped United to four semi-finals but lost in each of those matches.

Solskjaer eventually led the club to the Europa League final last season, but his side lost to Villarreal on penalties.

Man Utd in transition again

While Man Utd hoped for a change in their fortunes since Solskjaer left, they have still had a sub-par season.

Ralf Rangnick is in interim charge, but he looks highly unlikely to inspire a top-four Premier League finish this term.

Erik ten Hag is to become the new manager in the Old Trafford dugout and it remains unclear if he can inspire a consistent turnaround in fortunes for the club, not just in flashes.

Indeed, standout moments such as the win over PSG have come few and far between.

They have also ultimately counted for nothing in the grand scheme of where United are now.
