Somerset's bats heat up late in win over East Jessamine

Mar. 15—For the first three innings of Thursday's game between Somerset and East Jessamine, neither team could get much going in the way of offense. However, Somerset finally found their groove at the plate after that, scoring seven runs over the next three innings to defeat the Jaguars 7-2.

Caynon Sizemore and Connor Vanderploeg each had two RBI's for the Jumpers, with Vanderploeg also hitting a triple. Cayden Cimala, Kole Grundy and Connor Roberts each added hits in the ball game. Raygan New earned the win on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing one run on no hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Grundy earned the save, pitching the final two innings and allowing just one earned run on one hit with three walks and a strikeout.

Somerset improves to 2-0 and after facing Somerset Christian in the All "A" Classic on Friday, will host Boyle County on Monday at 6 p.m.
