Tchamadeu, 19, is regarded as one of the best young prospects in the Football League after catching the eye for Colchester over the last couple of seasons. The attacking wing-back, who mainly plays on the right flank, also swept the boards at Colchester’s end of season awards having made 46 appearances in all competitions and chipping in with five goals and two assists.

Blackburn have held a long-term interest in Tchamadeu, having tried to sign the defender in January, and they are moving quickly this summer to try and land the teenager to fend off potential interest from rival clubs.

Colchester are aware of the growing interest in Tchamadeu and accept they are facing a battle to keep hold of the defender this summer.

Blackburn hope to win race for League Two sensation

The U’s academy product, who also spent time at Charlton Athletic as a youngster, is entering the final year of his contract with Colchester and Blackburn are aiming to tie up a deal for the player as soon as possible.

Blackburn missed out on the Championship play-offs on goal difference and Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson is determined to build a squad this summer capable of challenging again for promotion back to the Premier League next season.

While Tchamadeu could arrive at Ewood Park this summer, Tomasson will have to do without influential attacker Ben Brereton Diaz. The England-born Chile international is understood to have reached a pre-contract agreement with Villarreal ahead of a free transfer to La Liga, with his Blackburn terms expiring at the end of June.
