Free-agent center/forward Tarik Black has agreed to a one-year deal for the $3.3 million bi-annual exception with the Houston Rockets, league sources told The Vertical.
For Black, a new deal with the Rockets represents a return to the franchise with which he started his NBA career. Black went undrafted out of Kansas in 2014 but made the Rockets’ roster out of training camp in 2014.
Houston will utilize Black’s rebounding and activity as a rotation piece on a roster that now includes Chris Paul and Nene, who re-signed this summer.
Black, 25, has played for Houston and the Los Angeles Lakers in his three NBA seasons. The Lakers released Black on July 1 before his guarantee date. He has career averages of 5.3 points and 5.1 rebounds.
