Sources: Sunderland hatch plan to foil Crystal Palace and Brentford, with deal on the way for thriving forward
Sunderland are planning a new deal for winger Jack Clarke as reward for his fine form and to fend off growing interest from Premier League clubs for his signature, TEAMtalk understands.
Clarke, 22, has enjoyed an outstanding season so far with Sunderland and has been instrumental in helping them reach the Championship play-offs.
The former Leeds man has over 20 goal contributions for Sunderland this term, with 11 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.
Clarke has the joint-most assists in the Championship this season and he will be key for Sunderland if they are to win promotion back to the Premier League through the lottery of the play-offs.
His superb form has brought him onto the radar of a number of clubs, with Premier League pair Crystal Palace and Brentford both making regular checks on Clarke.
Clarke initially joined Sunderland on loan in January 2022 and made 20 appearances on the way to helping secure promotion to the Championship.
Sunderland turned his loan move from Tottenham into a permanent deal last summer and the skilful attacker has continued to flourish under Black Cats boss Tony Mowbray.
Clarke still has three years to run on his current deal at the Stadium of Light. However, Sunderland are keen to offer the wide-man improved terms to reflect his ever-growing importance to Mowbray’s long-term plans on Wearside.
