Tuesday’s T20 World Cup action gets underway with South Africa facing a West Indies side which collapsed dramatically in their opening game against England.

Coach Phil Simmons played down the 55 all-out collapse in the Windies’ opener by simply calling for better shot selection, with the UAE conditions not as conducive to slugging the ball as some locales.

South Africa also struggled to pile on the runs against Australia in their Super 12 opener, falling to a narrow defeat despite only tallying up 118/9.

With only two teams progressing from Group 1, another defeat could signal an early exit for either side.

Date, UK start time and venue

South Africa vs West Indies starts at 11am BST, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Dubai International Stadium.

South Africa vs West Indies team news

After just one game, South Africa will likely stick with the line-up that came close to downing Australia.

Squad: Temba Bavuma, Keshav Maharaj, Quinton de Kock, Bjorn Fortuin, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, W Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen

The Windies could make a couple of changes after their England horror show, but a total overhaul is unlikely. Roston Chase could come into the line-up having missed the opener.

South Africa vs West Indies prediction

South Africa were not expected to make huge waves at this tournament but certainly showed more grit in their opener - not like that is hard compared to West Indies. A tight game is expected nonetheless and a swift turnaround from the defending champions may well be the order of the day.

West Indies win.
