Southwestern walks-off against North Laurel

Mar. 14—Southwestern made their season debut on Tuesday night as they welcomed in North Laurel to their home ball park. The game was tied heading into the final inning, but a walk-off sacrifice fly from Michael Miller ended up giving the Warriors a 3-2 win to begin the season off on a good note.

Jonah Brock had a multi-hit game in the win, with himself and Kyle West also earning an RBI each. Hits also came from Jackson Couch, Jonas Gallagher, Wyatt Morgan and Jayden Taylor. Morgan pitched five innings, allowing one run with three hits and striking out nine, while Gallagher pitched the final two innings, allowing one earned with one hit and three strikeouts. North Laurel's lone RBI was scored by seventh grader Cooper Parman.

Southwestern starts the season out 1-0 and will next be in action on Saturday, as they take a trip down to Whitley County to take on the defending state champions.
