Spain’s squad for Euro 2020 have had their Covid-19 vaccines ahead of the tournament starting on Friday.

The move was taken after the Spanish Government agreed to vaccinate the squad ahead of the tournament to ensure players’ health was looked after.

Spain have had to cope with a Covid-19 outbreak in the camp, with captain Sergio Busquets and Diego Llorente both testing positive.

It forced the squad into isolation and also promoted manager Luis Enrique to assumable a separate 17-man group, who are training in a different bubble.

The Spain squad, however, have now been vaccinated, with the Spanish FA confirming the news on Friday morning.

“The purpose of this vaccination is to make it easier for Spain to play Euro 2020 with full security guarantees, in addition to allowing the national team to compete on equal terms with other participating teams that have already been immunized,” they said.

“Through an official statement published this past Thursday, the Royal Spanish Football Federation has thanked the Government of Spain for having responded to its request to allow the players who will represent our country in the final phase to do so with their health and fully guaranteed security.”
