Mel C has said she will do everything in her power to reunite the Spice Girls – including Victoria Beckham – for a 25th anniversary tour.

The Say You’ll Be There singers are due to celebrate the 25th anniversary next year and Sporty Spice hopes they will all be part of a celebration to mark the milestone.

Mel C told Lorraine: ”It would be rude not to! We had the most incredible year last year, playing stadiums and we have got to do it again. We talk about it all the time.

“Of course this year has thrown everything into chaos, I think a lot of the big artists that were planning to perform this year will move to next year, so sadly it probably will delay the Spice Girls getting back on stage, but I’m doing everything in my power to make that happen.”

Speaking about the Spice Girls bond, she said: “We appreciate each other now more than ever.

“We love each other and drive each other mad in equal measures, but we’re like family. It’s just one of those situations.”

Sporty, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner reunited for the Spice World tour of the UK last year but were not joined by Beckham, who now has a successful career as a fashion designer.

Beckham met the rest of the band but decided not to take part.

She told Vogue Germany afterwards: “Saying ‘no’ requires courage... For example, it took me a lot of courage not to go on tour with the Spice Girls again, but to be the one who says, ‘You know, I'm not doing it because things feel different now than they used to. I'd rather concentrate on my family and my company.’”

Mel C previously said: "Not having Victoria on stage last year, you know, it was bittersweet. The shows were phenomenal but there was someone missing."

There had been rumours that the band would perform at Glastonbury Festival this year, before the event was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Mel B said last year: “Funnily enough, my mum was at her mum’s summer party and `Victoria was there, and she did actually mention to my mum that she would love to Glastonbury next year. So I can say that. Unless my mum is lying!”
