If you made a beeline for Spice Girls reunion tour tickets then you'll be pleased to learn that the '90s girl band are also working on an animated film.

Rumours that the group signed off their likenesses for a superhero-themed movie with 'girl power' at its heart first emerged back in March 2018.

Now, their manager Simon Fuller has confirmed the news in a lengthy interview with Billboard.

"What's coming next is that we are going to be doing lots of exciting things," he said. "We'll be making an animated movie and there's lots of exciting plans to come."

According to Variety, each character in the upcoming film will be voiced by a member of the band and will hold a 'girl power' which reflects their personality.

But with Victoria Beckham - also known as Posh Spice - skipping the reunion tour, there's no telling whether or not she will feature in the animation.

In the interview, Fuller also admitted that he predicted the sell-out success of the Spice Girls comeback tour, adding: "To be honest with you, while it was clearly phenomenal, they are such an awesome phenomenon I expected it."

"The last tour we did seven or eight years ago the demand was equal, if not maybe even more. It’s a global phenomenon. They’re more timely now than ever and it’s fantastic. I'm so happy for the girls, they deserve it."

The pop group will kick-start their UK comeback tour on May 27 in Cardiff.
