Arsenal travel to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League tonight.

While Mikel Arteta’s side are in a strong position in the league table and remain on course to qualify for the knockout rounds automatically, the Gunners were beaten 1-0 by Inter Milan last time out.

They now head to a Sporting Lisbon side who thrashed Manchester City 4-1 earlier this month, albeit that was under the stewardship of Ruben Amorim – who of course is now in charge of Manchester United.

Arsenal cruised to victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday in their first match back after the international break, setting them up nicely for a hectic run heading towards the festive period.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off time tonight on Tuesday November 26, 2024.

Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon will host the match.

Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal team news

Pote and Nuno Santos will miss out for Sporting, with Geny Catamo and Maximiliano Araujo both in contention to start.

Viktor Gyokeres, previously linked with Arsenal, will lead the line, having scored 17 goals in his last nine appearances for club and country.

Arsenal had Riccardo Calafiori back against Forest in a much-needed boost, while Leandro Trossard overcame his injury concerns to feature and Martin Odegaard continues to build his way towards full fitness.

Kai Havertz and Declan Rice could come back into the starting lineup along with Gabriel Martinelli, having all been unused substitutes over the weekend.

Ben White will not feature in Portugal, facing a “few months” out after knee surgery, and Takehiro Tomiyasu is still unavailable. Kieran Tierney is in contention though after a hamstring injury.

Sporting Lisbon vs Arsenal prediction

This is on paper Arsenal’s toughest remaining fixture in the league phase, with two home matches and a trip to Girona to come after.

Sporting have already showed how dangerous they can be, particularly on home soil, and the Gunners would probably be satisfied if the points were shared.

Draw, 1-1.
