It’s that time of year again when the world’s biggest streaming platform lifts the lid on what exactly we’ve all been listening to for the past year.

Spotify Wrapped brings together stats upon stats, and it always seems to cause a storm on social media as people react with pride/amusement/embarrassment/bemusement (delete as applicable) as their private listening habits are laid bare for all to see.

Here’s your guide on what to expect.

The personalised section of Wrapped has now launched. It’s only available on the app this year (iOS and Android) and appears for users when they open their app. If you can’t wait for that, head to spotify.com/us/wrapped click “Download Spotify”, and that should launch it.

What can we expect from Spotify Wrapped 2021?

As in previous years, Wrapped presents users with a breakdown of what exactly they’ve been listening to for the year gone by — from most streamed artists and favourite genres, to their top podcasts and the number of minutes spent listening on the app.

The streaming platform has also confirmed that 170 artists and creators will feature in a series of videos thanking fans for including them in their Wrapped.

Who were the most streamed artists of the year?

In addition to all the personal data that comes with the annual Wrapped feature, Spotify also reveals which artists have been most popular on the platform across the UK, and the rest of the world.

In terms of the UK’s listening habits, it’s a pretty predictable round-up of the big hitters. Drake was the most streamed artist in the UK, while Olivia Rodrigo’s good 4 u topped the song charts. The American teenager also nabbed the crown when it came to most streamed album, with her world-conquering debut Sour, while Ed Sheeran’s = came second, despite only being released at the end of October.

Dua Lipa, meanwhile, came first in terms of UK artists streamed globally, while The Joe Rogan Experience reigned supreme on the podcast charts.
