St Helens forward James Bell has returned to Championship leaders Leigh on dual-registration ahead of their game against Dewsbury.

The Scotland international joined the Super League champions from Leigh ahead of this season. Bell has found game-time limited with Saints though, making just seven first team appearances so far.

St Helens and Leigh have had a long-standing dual-registration partnership over the past four seasons, which has allowed the likes of Tom Nisbet and Aaron Smith to join the Centurions on loan.

James Bell will be part of Leigh’s squad to take on Dewsbury at the Tetley’s Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The New Zealand-born forward will be hoping to get as much game-time under his belt as possible from now until the end of the season, with Scotland’s World Cup campaign on the horizon.

Leigh building for the future

Ireland international Ed Chamberlain has become the latest player to commit his long-term future to Leigh. He has signed a new deal that will see him remain with the Centurions until at least the end of 2024.

Chamberlain has been a regular in Adrian Lam’s starting side, scoring 10 tries in 19 appearances. He will be hoping to represent his Irish heritage at this year’s World Cup.

He said: “I’m really happy to have signed the new deal.

“This year has been a really good run with the boys. Both Lammy (Adrian Lam) and Chezy (Chris Chester) have put together a really good squad.

“I can’t wait to, hopefully, get us up to Super League and be a part of that for the next two years.”

Joe Mellor and Keanan Brand have also signed new deals with Leigh in recent weeks.
