Staff shortages lead to raft of Island Line cancellations

A raft of Isle of Wight train services have been cancelled today (Monday).

A total of 14 services between Ryde Esplanade and Shanklin stations are off.

South Western Railway, which runs Island Line, said staff shortages are to blame.

A spokesperson said: "We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."

The following services are cancelled from Shanklin:

  • 12pm Shanklin to Ryde Esplanade will terminate at Ryde St Johns Road

  • 1pm Shanklin to Ryde Esplanade

  • 2pm Shanklin to Ryde Esplanade

  • 3pm Shanklin to Ryde Esplanade will start from Ryde St Johns Road

  • 4.30pm Shanklin to Ryde Esplanade

  • 5.30pm Shanklin to Ryde Esplanade

  • 6.30pm Shanklin to Ryde Esplanade

The following services are cancelled from Ryde Esplanade:

  • 12.29pm Ryde Esplanade to Shanklin

  • 1.30pm Ryde Esplanade to Shanklin

  • 2.29pm Ryde Esplanade to Shanklin

  • 3.59pm Ryde Esplanade to Shanklin will terminate at Ryde St Johns Road

  • 5pm Ryde Esplanade to Shanklin

  • 6pm Ryde Esplanade to Shanklin

  • 7pm Ryde Esplanade to Shanklin will start from Ryde St Johns Road

The cancellations follow recent disruption caused by strikes.

The latest day of action, by ASLEF union members, was on May 31.
