Rick Astley joins Standon Calling 2023: Dates, ticket information, line-up and headliners
More than 40 acts, including Rick Astley, have been added to the 2023 line-up for Standon Calling festival in Hertfordshire.
Years & Years, Self Esteem, Bloc Party and The Human League had already been announced as headliners at the festival, which will be held for the 17th time from July 20 to 23 in the fields near Bishop’s Stortford.
Acts announced on Tuesday to be on the bill include We Are Scientists, The Big Moon, The Murder Capital, Scouting for Girls, Bear’s Den, and returnees Django Django.
The four-day weekend’s line-up will also feature concerts from Anastacia, Confidence Man, Dylan, Squid, Katy B, KT Tunstall, Melanie C, Sad Night Dynamite, and Lynks.
Astley is a surprising addition to the festival, which often champions upcoming acts, but the veteran singer could be a hit at the family-friendly event. The 57-year-old released his eighth album Beautiful Life in 2018.
The English singer-songwriter shot to fame through the Stock Aitken Waterman label — also home to Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan — in the 1980s. Never Gonna Give You Up was his biggest hit, topping charts worldwide in 1987.
