Stellini explains how new Spurs signing Danjuma will fit into Conte’s team as he’s declared ‘available’
Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini has confirmed that Arnaut Danjuma will be “available” for selection for their FA Cup fourth round clash with Preston.
Spurs signed the Netherlands international from Villarreal on loan until the end of the season after hijacking Everton’s deal for the forward.
And Stellini has revealed that the 25-year-old will be available to play against Championship side Preston tomorrow.
Stellini told reporters: “Arnaut Danjuma is available. Everybody is available. We only have one problem with Harry [Kane], with illness this week and he hasn’t trained much. He trained today but we have to think about this.”
On what Danjuma will bring to Antonio Conte’s side, Stellini added: “He has experience because he’s played good Champions League last season. He is a player that can play like a striker or a winger. He has a lot of positions he can cover.
“So we are happy and we are looking forward to working with him. We want to discover [more about him]. It’s normal at this point in the season, in January, you need time to give him all the information to play in our team. So we are happy, we want to work with him and we are looking forward to working with him.”
On Dajuma’s best position, he continued: “It depends on the system we use. In the system we use normally he could be a number 10 or a striker. This is the way we want to work with him. We said many times that we need a player to change [matches]. This season we lost Lucas and we need the players to add to our rotation and it’s good to have him.”
On the difference in form from Yves Bissouma compared to last season at Brighton, the Spurs assistant said: “Because it’s different the club he plays, different expectations every game. When you change the club you need to understand quickly the moment. Sometimes when you play every game, then you start to be a rotation it’s not easy for Biss or any player.
“You have to understand what is your position in the team and what the team needs for you. Not every club is the same. Maybe Biss needed time.”
