Stephen Fry was rushed to the hospital after falling off stage at London’s O2 Arena.

The 66-year-old was delivering a speech at a special event at the venue last week when he experienced a horrifying fall.

After his speech at the AI and Tech festival CogX on Thursday, Fry reportedly lost his balance and slipped off the side of the stage, plummeting six feet and sustaining injuries to his ribs and legs.

A source told Mail Online that he “fell two metres to the floor” before being put in a wheelchair to an ambulance, which transported him to the hospital. It is currently unknown whether the star is still hospitalised.

The Standard has contacted Stephen Fry’s team for comment.

A spokesperson for CogX festival said: "We are thinking of him and wishing him a swift recovery. We have opened our own inquiry, and until then, we are not able to share any further details."

Greenwich council said they received an “accident report” and is considering whether further investigations are necessary.

The London Ambulance Service also confirmed they were called to “reports of an incident at the O2 Arena”. However, they did not confirm or deny the identity of the patient involved.

A spokesperson added: “We sent a medic in a fast-response car, an ambulance crew, and an incident response officer to the scene. We treated a man for rib and leg injuries before taking him to the hospital.”

Earlier this month the Blackadder star was taken to a bomb shelter during a visit to Ukraine.

On Instagram, he had kept his followers updated on the situation, explaining that he had initially been taken to the safety zone in Kyiv. Fortunately, he and all other guests managed to evacuate safely.
