Raheem Sterling is excited to get going at Chelsea after the London club completed the deal to sign him from Manchester City for £47.5m.

The 27-year-old netted 131 goals in 339 appearances for Man City. He has won the Premier League title four times.

Sterling slipped down the pecking order at City last term and his contract was due to expire in 2023.

Chelsea quickly identified him as a top target this summer and they have now finalised the signing.

Sky Sports are reporting that the Blues will pay £47.5m for the forward. He has penned a five-year deal and this includes an option for a further season.

The England international will now link up with his new teammates for their pre-season camp in the United States.

Sterling bid to Man City in an emotional farewell posted on Wednesday afternoon. He has now insisted that there is “so much more to achieve” before he retires:

“First and foremost, it’s a pleasure to be here,” Sterling told the club’s official website.

“I’ve obviously achieved a lot in my career so far, but there is still so much more to achieve and I’m really looking forward to doing that in a Chelsea shirt, under Thomas’s management.

“London is my home and where it all started for me, and it’s amazing I now have the opportunity to play in front of friends and family week in, week out at Stamford Bridge. I’m really looking forward to meeting the fans there soon.

“I do want to take the opportunity to thank Todd, Behdad, the ownership group, Thomas, and all involved in the process of getting me here.

“I can’t wait to get going now and continue to do my talking on the pitch.”

New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly added: “Raheem Sterling is a serial winner and his signing is an important step in strengthening our squad.

“We are delighted for Raheem to return to London with Chelsea, and we look forward to seeing his world-class talent on display at Stamford Bridge.”
