Arsenal confirm Unai Emery's backroom team - Steve Bould stays, Jens Lehmann goes

Arsenal have confirmed the make-up of Unai Emery’s backroom staff, with Juan Carlos Carcedo joining Steve Bould as the Spaniard’s assistants.

Pablo Villanueva has also been appointed a first-team coach with his predecessor in the role, former Invincibles goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, among a host of former Arsene Wenger acolytes who have moved on.

Neil Banfield, Tony Colbert, Gerry Peyton and Boro Primorac have also left, along with head of medical services Colin Lewin.

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: “All these people have played a huge part in the club’s success and development over many years. We thank them for all their hard work and wish them all the best for the future.”

Emery worked alongside Carcedo, Villanueva, strength and conditioning coach Julen Masach, goalkeeping coach Javi Garcia and video analyst Victor Manas at his previous clubs and all of them have made the move over to London Colney.

Gazidis added: “Unai has a very strong and talented team and I’m delighted that they are joining us. I’m also pleased that Steve Bould, [goalkeeping coach] Sal Bibbo and [director of high performance] Darren Burgess will continue their work with us.

“As we go through this period of change, we need to retain some continuity and they have an important role to play.”
