Steven Gerrard wants Rangers reunion as ex-player lined up for Al-Ettifaq transfer

Steven Gerrard is reportedly lining up a transfer swoop for one of his former Rangers players.

Since moving out to Saudi Arabia as Al-Ettifaq manager, the former Gers boss has shown he will turn to familiarity when recruiting. He has ex-Ibrox coach Tom Culshaw and former kitman Jim McAlister as part of his backroom staff and he has also turned to players he knows a lot about.

Former Celtic players Jack Hendry and Moussa Dembele were signed along with ex-Liverpool duo Gini Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson, although the latter didn't last long before being allowed to move back to Europe with Ajax. And there could seen be a Rangers connection on the pitch too.

Reports in Saudi are suggesting that Gerrard wants to bring Fashion Sakala in from another Pro League side. The Zambian forward scored 22 goals for Al-Fayha last season, adding nine assists as he took the league by storm, and has one from two games already this campaign.

He could be on the move soon if his former Ibrox boss gets his wish. Demarai Gray is another former Premier League player at Al-Ettifaq it's claimed Gerrard is ready to move the former Leicester man out to free up space on his foreign quota to enable him to get Sakala in. Porto and Al-Ahly are said to be keen on Gray.

Gerrard signed Sakala for Rangers on a free transfer and despite being inconsistent the forward was a fan favourite and a popular player at Ibrox. He was sold last summer as part of Michael Beale's rebuild.
