Narcis Pelach has confirmed that Enda Stevens is available for selection as Stoke City venture south to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick off). Irish defender Stevens missed the draw with Millwall before the international break having picked up a knock in the victory at Blackburn Rovers in the same week.

The experienced left-back underwent a scan and has worked closely with the club's medical staff, to whom Pelach wished to publicise his gratitude for their efforts during this break - not only with Stevens but also with a host of other long-term absentees who are, to a man, inching closer to making their respective reappearances.

Pelach will also have Lynden Gooch - who he hasn't yet been able to call on since being appointed - back as of Monday and he is in contention to feature in the match-day squad when the Potters welcome Preston North End to the Bet365 Stadium on Tuesday evening, and he was able to offer promising updates on both Bosun Lawal and Sam Gallagher, who are due to resume training before the intense Christmas schedule.

"I'm really happy that Enda Stevens is available for Saturday's game - he's ready to go," Pelach enthused. "This has been a great job done by the medical staff, who I want to mention here because they've been very good these days. All the players came to work, they didn't have the time off that available players had - giving their best for the club.

"The medical staff have been very good. Enda is available, Gooch is going to train with the squad from Monday so he comes back and is available for Preston and Burnley. It's another very positive news. Bosun Lawal and Sam Gallagher in hopefully two, but maybe three, weeks will be back training with the group.

"They made massive steps in the international break and so I want to say thank you to the medical staff. We have to wait a little more with Ben Pearson, but he's making steps as well, we just have to wait more."

Lawal is an unknown quantity for Stoke supporters, who haven't seen the summer signing in action yet; the Celtic academy product, who spent last season on loan in League One with Fleetwood Town but arrived in the Potteries in the summer with a stress fracture, which was discovered during his medical. Lawal has since been stepping up his recovery, but Pelach has urged patience with the talented youngster.

"He's getting ready," the Spaniard added. "He's running and he looks fitter than we thought and the pain is away. The guy is coming. The medical staff and the performance staff gave it their all and this is exactly what I wanted. It's credit to them that Enda Stevens is available, it's credit to them that Ashley Phillips is available. It's credit to them that Bosun and Sam Gallagher are doing massive steps to come back quicker than we thought.

"I'm demanding sometimes, I know that, but I am grateful, these are what I want the standards to be. I want to make sure people get credit when they deserve it, and they deserve this. They are coming, we cannot use them this week, but ahead of this busy period we will hopefully see them.

"Maybe they won't be at their best level and we need to understand that - Bosun Lawal hasn't played a game in the Championship yet. He's very young and we're excited to see him but it's not fair to expect that he'll be great from the first day. We must wait for his best performances."
