Start the rampant Giannelli Imbula

The French midfielder has fallen well down the pecking order in recent weeks, with even Charlie Adam getting game time ahead of him. With Joe Allen out through suspension and Glenn Whelan and Geoff Cameron huge doubts with injury, surely Mark Hughes will have to include the club record signing?

That will remain to be seen, but I personally believe we lacked a player like Imbula against Bournemouth. His abilty to drive through midfield with his devastating runs and close control dribbling is a joy to behold.

There aren’t many players who can change defence into attack like he can and in this exact fixture last year he comfortably won man of the match with the way he bullied Watford’s midfield. Etienne Capoue sure will be hoping not too come across the powerful Frenchman again, as his last encounter with Imbula was not a successful one.

Start Mame Biram Diouf, as Bony continues to not perform

As Bony approaches his tenth Premier League appearance for Stoke, he has only managed to score in one of his previous nine games. After breaking his duck against old club Swansea with a brace, you thought he would burst into a run of goals and confidence.

It seems to have done the neither however, as he seems to be not confident with his own ability at all. Only completing 43% of his passes against Bournemouth last weekend shows how poor he was. A spell on the side-lines is necessary in my opinion as his lack of speed and poor hold up play is costing us dearly.

My alternative for Bony has to be Mame Diouf. Diouf, although not technically great, has a superb knack of getting into space and dragging defenders out of place, creating room for others. Although a striker remains has to remain Mr Hughes’ main priority, Diouf is the best we’ve got right now with Bony not showing his form.

Keep a tight rein on Deeney

Deeney found fortune against Stoke last season scoring twice in as many games against the Potters. He constantly provided a threat against Stoke in these two games and got his reward for constant pressure on the Stoke backline. Deeney a very physical player but technically good also, will have to be kept under constant surveillance from Stoke’s two centre backs Bruno Martins Indi.

Whether it is Isaac Success or Odion Ighalo alongside Deeney he will look to be unselfish and create for them as he likes to bring his striking partner into play as well. With Watford’s busy style of play we will need help from our midfield players to neutralize Watford’s
