Strictly Come Dancing 2016: Odds Reveal Early Favourite To Win The Series

The complete Strictly Come Dancing celebrity line-up has now been revealed and there’s already a hot favourite contender to triumph and lift the Glitterball trophy at the end of the 2016 series.

Jet setting from Rio to Blackpool, Olympic gymnast Claudia Fragapane – who already excels on the floor and vault – is set to shine on the BBC ballroom, with bookmakers BoyleSports giving her odds of 9/4 as early favourite to win.

The 18-year-old world medalist is closely followed by popstar Will Young and Hollyoaks hunk Danny Mac at 4/1.

Meanwhile former I’m A Celebrity spin-off presenter Laura Whitmore is priced at 7/1 to become the first Irish celebrity to win the show while Olympic athlete Greg Rutherford has a chance of adding the Strictly winner’s title to his accolades at 8/1.

With lower odds, former Eternal band member Louise Redknapp stands at 12/1 followed by model Daisy Lowe at 14/1. As former Xtra Factor host Melvin Odoom, BBC Sport presenter Ore Oduba, and singer Anastacia are all set at 20/1.

At the bottom of the pile are EastEnders actress Tameka Empson and BBC newsreader Naga Munchetty both at 25/1. As former MP Ed Balls, Birds of a Feather star Lesley Joseph and TV personality Judge Rinder stand at 50/1.

Aoife Heffron from bookies BoyleSports explained the odds to Tellymix, saying: “Gymnast Claudia Fragapane may not have walked away from the 2016 Rio Olympics with a medal, but she is currently tipped to walk away from Strictly with the trophy as she went straight in as the 9/4 favourite.”

The new series of Strictly Come Dancing kicks off with a red carpet launch show on September 3, where we will discover which of the professional dancers the celebrities have been partnered up with, before they all take to the floor to perform a group dance.
